What's Your Favorite Thing About UNM Anesthesia? I enjoy the variety of challenging cases that UNMH offers alongside the culture of the teaching hospital. UNM Anesthesia fosters an environment where asking questions and implementing new methods of optimizing care are encouraged from students as well as faculty.
What Do You Like Most About Being an Educator? I enjoy being a part of instilling a sense of open-mindedness, emotional intelligence, and confidence in students. I try to teach my students that I went through many of the same challenges they are going through when I was in their shoes. Becoming a skilled provider is a matter of patience, dedication, and time. Noone starts out a natural.
What's Your Favorite Thing About New Mexico? I can't miss the opportunity to mention how tasty New Mexican food is or mention the great hiking right within walking distance from my front door. However, my favorite thing about New Mexico is how close so many different environments are. There's the endless dunes of White Sands and the massive Carlsbad Caverns to the south, the high deserts and mesas overlooking the city of Albuquerque, and the Bosque along the bank of the Rio Grande. You can watch the Sandia Mountains change color from a rooftop as the sun sets or hike from the base to the peak to see the plants around you change from bushes and cacti to aspens and cedars. There's even green meadows and alpine lakes high in the mountains of Santa Fe.
