The Office of Faculty Development provides professional development and support to Department of Internal Medicine faculty members throughout their careers. We are committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty and building an environment of inclusion and professionalism.
The Office of Faculty Development focuses on recruitment and retention of the best health care professionals, leading to cultural competency and improved patient care. To support this, we:
- Assist faculty with career development, promotion, tenure and scholarship
- Build a comprehensive mentorship program to support mentors and protégées
- Monitor, document and honor faculty teaching efforts
- Foster professionalism with patients and students
- Provide a continuous improvement process

New Faculty Luncheons
Faculty who have joined in the last two years are invited to a 45-minute luncheon meeting every other month. There, faculty can get acquainted with one another and hear a brief presentation on a career-growth topic.

Research Club
Monthly Research Club meetings offer the opportunity for clinician-educators with little or no previous research experience to gather and discuss their research projects.

Faculty Activity Database (FAD)
Department faculty can record their educational, research, mentorship and community outreach activities on the Faculty Activity Database. This system facilitates the Department in its efforts to compensate Divisions for educational activity of their faculty and to provide positive economic incentives for medical student education and research mentorship.
