UNM Center for Global Health Leads the Way in the COVID-19 Response
In late February 2020, the Center for Global Health began concerted efforts to address the rapid global spread of the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine rollout began in Kenya in early March 2021. The Kenyan site PI for the UNM activities, Professor Collins Ouma, Department of Biomedical Sciences and Technology, Maseno University, is leading the charge by demonstrating the importance of being vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2.
