Emergency Radiology Fellowship

The University of New Mexico offers an Emergency and Trauma Imaging Fellowship position for a one-year term. Successful fellows will experience all of the following:

Multi-center hospital setting includes the region’s only Level 1 Trauma and Burn center with high-acuity trauma and non-traumatic pathologies.

Advanced stroke imaging center including CTA and perfusion imaging (CT and MRI).
High-volume referral center from the greater Albuquerque area as well as Colorado, Texas, Arizona, and Mexico.
Collegial teaching environment with experienced attending faculty supervision.
Elective time in other radiology subspecialties.
Flexible clinical schedule.
Robust support available for research.
Newly implemented peer-review conference and journal club.
Academic development opportunities including faculty mentorship and educational opportunities.
Exceptionally supportive Emergency Radiology section members, section chief, and fellowship director.

Our non-accredited fellows may have the opportunity to serve as attending radiologists outside their fellowship area, for up to approximately 20% time, after sufficient time in fellowship (typically 3 months) for us to assess clinical skills and interests.

Attending assignments are for mutually agreeable services, based on our clinical needs and a fellow's comfort level/skill set. For those interested in and qualified for these assignments, we offer substantial extra compensation.

Eligibilty requirements for Emergency Radiology Fellowship

Applicants must:

Be a graduate of an ACGME acredited Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the time of entrance into the fellowship
Be board eligible at the time of entrance into the fellowship
Be eligible for licensure by the State of New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners
Be a US Citizen, resident with a vaild work permit

USMLE or COMLEX Step exam scores (PDF, helpful if one file but not necessary)

In addition we require 3 letters of recommendation (LORs)

One letter must be from current program director
One letter must be from a faculty/physician in desired fellowship subspeciality
