Application Requirements for University of New Mexico Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program:

For the 2027 ERAS® cycle, our program will be participating in the NRMP Match, and we are excited to receive information from the supplemental ERAS application offered through the AAMC’s ERAS program. Applicants will be required to complete the MyERAS application, and participation in the supplemental ERAS application is optional. In its second year of use, the supplemental ERAS application is designed to help students share more information about themselves and assist our program in finding applicants that fit our programs’ setting and mission. There is no cost to applicants and participation is optional.

The supplemental ERAS application includes: 

• geographic preferences (by region and by urban or rural setting);
• information about their most meaningful experiences and other impactful life events, if applicable; and
• program signals.

Initial invitations to access to the supplemental ERAS application will be delivered on August 1st. The supplemental ERAS application must be completed between August 1st and September 16th at 5:00pm ET.

All interviews will be conducted via virtual platform.

Diagnostic Radiology Residency Application Instructions

For the 2026-2027 interview season (for residents starting the program in 2028), all interviews will be conducted virtually in accordance with the AAMC recommendations

Step 1:  Minimum Application Requirements

Our minimum application requirements state that applicants must be one of the following:

• a graduate of an LCME accredited American or Canadian medical school
• a graduate of an AOA accredited osteopathic school in the United States
• an international medical graduate with a valid ECFMG certificate

• a U.S. citizen, resident with a valid work permit
• or visitor with a J-1 visa

All completed applications from qualified applicants will be reviewed

Step 2:  Research Our Program

Step 3:  Submit an ERAS Application

Please send us a completed application through the Electronic Residency Application Service of the Association of American Medical Colleges. Our ACGME ID is 4203421120.

We require three Letters of Recommendation; one must be from a radiologist.  

We require passing Step 1 and Step 2 scores. 

Step 4:  Receive an Invitation for a Personal Interview

After review of the submitted applications, selected applicants are invited to a virtual interview which is composed of the Program Director and/or Associate Program Director, faculty and residents. If selected for interview, you will receive an invitation through Thalamus. Interview season is typically October to January of each academic year.

Applicants are invited to an in-person 2nd Look following certification of the Rank Order List.
