UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO GENERAL SURGERY 2024 MATCH PLEDGE
We are thrilled that you are interested in our program and in the spirit of transparency wanted to put out a statement regarding Match Season. All interviews will be virtual and we are following the recommendations from the Association of Program Director in Surgery (APDS).
We have 6 categorical academic positions for which we will interview 64 candidates.
Interview invitations will be sent between October 23 and November 1, 2025, to fill the 64 slots available.
We will NOT invite more candidates to interview than we have interview slots available.
Applicants will have 48 hours to accept the interview invitation.
If a slot opens up due to a cancellation by a candidate, additional invites may be sent out through our last interview on January 15, 2026.
All Interviews will be Virtual and conducted on Zoom.

We are committed to a Holistic Evaluation of each application that meets the following requirements:
A first attempt Pass on USMLE Step I is required.
A score of 240 or better on USMLE Step 2 (first attempt) is required.
3 letters of reference required.
Graduation date two years or less.
IMGs must have a valid ECFMG by time of credentialing.
