Medical students interested in the University of New Mexico Plastic, Burn, and Reconstructive Surgery residency program are invited to apply for a four-week visiting student sub-internship rotation.
The visiting student sub-internship rotation provides the student with an intensive exposure to the care of the plastic and burn surgery patient including management of surgical and non-surgical treatments, critical care management and evaluation of outpatient wounds. During the four-week rotation, the student will have the opportunity to work with each of our core faculty. Each week, the student will be assigned to a designated attending who they will follow for cases and clinics. The student will also work as part of the multidisciplinary team with residents, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, wound care, and physical therapists in caring for our diverse patient population. The student will have the opportunity to give a presentation on their topic of choice at the end of their rotation to the UNM Plastic Surgery Division.
