Center Overview

Poisonings are the number one cause of injury-related deaths in New Mexico. We believe that every New Mexican should have access to life-saving information. As such, our telephone services are:

• Free and confidential
• Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
• Offered in over 70 different languages, including Navajo.

The New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center provides two telephone-based services. First, we offer a poison information line. On the poison information line, our pharmacists give patients top-quality, personalized treatment advice. Most of the time, our specialists are able to successfully manage poisonings without patients having to leave the comfort of their own home.

Second, we are one of the few poison centers in the nation that also offers a drug information line. On the drug information line, our pharmacists provide accurate information about medications, such as pill identifications and drug interactions.

We are the people to talk to when you need help with a poisoning or your medications. Our pharmacists are certified specialists in poison and drug information. They help callers with all types of poisonings, from medication errors to radioactive exposures. Our Center is one of the finest in the nation and is nationally accredited by the American Association of Poison Control Centers.

The New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center takes pride in serving all New Mexicans. We help people of all ages, from infants to seniors.
