National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW) 2024 is March 17th – 23rd. This year's theme is, "When The Unexpected Happens."
In 1961, the United States Congress established the third week in March as National Poison Prevention Week (P.L. 87-319). During this week, poison centers across the nation unite to increase poison prevention awareness. For more information, please visit https://www.aapcc.org/nppw-2024.
Because poisonings continue to be a serious public health issue in New Mexico, our poison center designates the entire month of March as New Mexico Poison Prevention Month (NMPPM).
Our Center leads a massive campaign with the generous help and support of our partners and fellow New Mexicans. This year, you can expect to hear about specific poisonings and how to prevent those poisonings.
