Advance your anesthesiology expertise. Apply for a fellowship in our Pediatric Anesthesiology program.
Welcome to the University of New Mexico Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship- a program offering a unique opportunity with unparalleled educational experience and training in the beautiful Southwest. We have developed a world-class, ACGME accredited, one-year Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship training program at the only tertiary care pediatric facility in the state. Being located in the largest and most populated city in the state and being the only ACGME accredited Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship in New Mexico, our fellows enjoy a wide array of cases with a large clinical volume, personal attention, a collegial and friendly learning environment, and academic advancement.
Thriving partnerships with faculty from Anesthesiology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology, Pediatric Chronic Pain,
and Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care, contribute to a well-rounded foundation upon graduation. The program boasts balanced clinical demands with ample board preparation time and resources that reliably yields acquisition of both Primary board and specialty / Pediatric Anesthesia board certifications.

Fellows will rotate across various clinical sites at the University of New Mexico Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital, including the Pediatric Operating Room, Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Pediatric Cardiac Operating Room, Pediatric Acute Pain Service, Chronic Pain Clinic, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and more. Fellows will have a pediatric global health opportunity as part of their pediatric regional or acute pain service month in October, where they travel to Ecuador with a multi-disciplinary team to perform pediatric orthopedic surgeries for children who would otherwise go without care.

In an effort to make the recruitment process fair and equitable as possible, our program will be participating in the match process for the 2026-2027 academic year. We will be accepting applications via SF Match for the 2 fellowship positions offered at UNM. If you have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in anesthesiology and are interested in the pediatric anesthesiology fellowship, please register and apply at SF Match. Additional information about the fellowship application process can be found on the Pediatric Anesthesiology Program Directors' Association (PAPDA).
Should you have any specific program questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your interest in our program and we look forward to hearing from you.
