Jennifer Reed joined the Continuum of Care (CoC) team in 2019 with 22 years of nursing experience working with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). Over the span of 20 years, she dedicated her nursing career to four agencies, and though her title might have changed, from Shift Nurse to Healthcare Coordinator to Nursing Supervisor, her love for working with people with disabilities never vanished. She was always an active member in her patient’s interdisciplinary teams as nurse and advocate, as these roles often go hand in hand. She discovered she had a passion for training direct care staff and was known for her various hands-on training set-ups.
Here at CoC, she assists Dr. Vickers and the rest of the team with coordinating patient care in the Adult Neurology Clinic in Albuquerque. She is gaining expertise on Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS) technology. She coordinates trainings across the state for nurses, educators, staff and families of people with I/DD. She is the Clinical Coordinator for the Adult Neurology Outreach Clinic in Roswell, and is also the Clinical Coordinator for the only Ketogenic Diet Clinic in the State of New Mexico. She is an active member of the New Mexico Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association (NMDDNA). She is looking forward to going back to school for her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in the near future.
