Anyone can report mistreatment to LEO! That means learners, faculty, staff members, hospital staff, anyone. You can report either anonymously or with your contact information so LEO can follow up with you.
We will never move forward on a case without your permission. If someone else reports to LEO that you were mistreated, the first thing we will do is reach out to you directly. At that time, you can tell us if you didn’t think it was mistreatment, you don’t want us to move forward with the case, you’d like us to wait until grades or due or you graduate for us to move forward, or whatever you’d like. We’ll try to reach out to you three times. If you don’t respond after the third attempt, we’ll assume you don’t want us to pursue the case, and we’ll mark it closed.
If you reported that you personally experienced mistreatment and left us your contact information, we’ll be reaching out to you as soon as we can. Sometimes we get multiple reports a day, and we might get backed up. If you reported the mistreatment of someone else, we’ll reach out to that person first to make sure we have their permission to move forward with the case. If you reported anonymously, of course, we can’t contact you. If you’d like to discuss a report you made anonymously, please just send us an email at HSC-LEO@salud.unm.edu.
There are a number of benefits to reporting with your contact information, although of course you’re always welcome to report anonymously. If you leave us your contact information, we can:
Remember that LEO does not share your identity with anyone without your permission. Just because LEO knows who you are doesn’t mean anyone else ever has to.
