Georgiana is a go-getter. She secured a professional nursing position in St. Louis prior to graduation. While at the St. Louis hospital she received high marks for her professional performance. Her preceptor gave her excellent ratings in writing. Georgiana worked every shift that came her way and readily took over for colleagues as needed. She also took the initiative to become certified in additional areas which resulted in her move to a hospital in Jefferson City where she was asked to assume charge nurse duties. Georgiana is also a Daniels Fund Scholar. Due to her critical thinking skills, work ethic and versatility she received another promotion and is so talented she can work when and where needed.

Amanda accepted a position with the pediatric unit at UNMH upon completion of her BSN degree and RN certification. Her love of learning and her pediatric nursing experience inspired her to continue her education at Creighton University where she earned her DNP. Amanda's leadership skills and flexiblility allow her to focuses strongly on results. She is extremely open to ideas from her medical assistants and ensures that they have the proper tools, training, and knowledge to complete their tasks. Amanda’s abilities will only become stronger because she possesses the agility and gracefulness to adapt to the ever changing health care field. Amanda has always been a caregiver. Last year, Amanda lost two grandparents within six months of each other. Her calming, sweet presence, medical knowledge, and experience provided a peace of mind that was indispensable to her family. Raul Serrano Jr, MA, BSN, RN

Kind, caring, and compassionate, Raul always goes above and beyond to ensure that his patients receive the best care. As a Registered Spanish translator he is an invaluable resource and has the most respectful bedside manner and communication with patients and families. Raul is also on several committees in the hospital including the fall committee and clinician work group committee. In addition, he precepts nursing students as well as new graduate nurses. Always promoting and encouraging higher education in the nursing profession, Raul is also a clinical instructor at the Santa Fe community college as well as a volunteer for the Capital High School mentorship program. He mentors high school students wanting to pursue health care. He also volunteers for “Girls on the Run” as a running buddy, which encourages young girls to exercise.
