HSC Data Security and Compliance
UNM Health Sciences Center (HSC) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of data security to protect sensitive research information. The HSC Information Security Office provides oversight and guidance to support multiple levels of data protection, including HIPAA compliance and advanced standards such as NIST 800-171 for controlled unclassified information. Data security procedures vary depending on the type of data involved and are guided by institutional policies.
Researchers can also access training and guidance on data compliance through the Office of Research’s Research Data and Informatics unit, which offers support for secure data handling, storage, and sharing practices.
