Community Faculty Overview
The Office for Community Faculty is a one stop shop for our generous and highly regarded community faculty to connect with learners in all of the UNM School of Medicine's disciplines.
This allows faculty to provide the highest quality community-based education by sharing their knowledge, experiences, skills and abilities with our students in a wide variety of practice environments throughout the state. As teachers and health care professionals, our community faculty play an important role in providing the best health care possible for all New Mexicans.
The UNM School of Medicine Office for Community Faculty will support a community-based faculty program by providing the highest quality of medical and health science education to our learners while ensuring a professional, supportive and creative experience for all.
The UNM School of Medicine Office for Community Faculty will establish and foster a seamless and meaningful experience across disciplines so that faculty and learners work together to improve health care in New Mexico.
Teaching with Limited Time, While Providing Patient Care in the Outpatient Setting
This self-paced, online module provides evidence-based approaches to efficiently integrating learners into your clinic, including the demonstration of six strategies known to enhance medical student learning while minimizing impact on your delivery of care. Registrants should expect to spend about 2.5 hours to complete the entire module. The module can be completed in parts over any period of time.
Providing Feedback and Evaluating Learners
Clinicians who serve as educators are required to evaluate the competency of learners and to provide them with feedback that improves their performance; this self-paced, online module provides the background and tools to accomplish both roles. Registrants should expect to spend about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete the entire module. The module can be completed in parts over any period of time.
