From: Graham Timmins, Ph.D. AIM Pilot Project director & Larry Sklar, Ph.D. AIM Sustainability Director
Dear Scientists,
The AIM COBRE is offering vouchers to help engage students in Health and Life Sciences programs in New Mexico’s Universities, who will be formally named as AIM Fellows (FAIM), in projects that benefit from access to AIM Core Facility resources.
These Core Utilization Vouchers are intended to pay for use of AIM Core instrumentation by studies in PI’s laboratories. The AIM Core instruments include High Content Imaging through Cellomics, Metabolism through Seahorse and others, Imaging flow Cytometry through Amnis, etc. You can find the current existing equipment and technology in the AIM Core here or via inquiry by email (contacts below). This voucher can pay for reagents and hourly charges needed to utilize core instruments to promote studies in autophagy, inflammation, and metabolism contingent upon consultation with Technical Director, Dr. Sharina Desai (aimcore@salud.unm.edu). Any mandatory training of users will be included without charge. Vouchers will be worth up to $5,000.
To estimate the size of the potential demand, brief letters of intent (approx. 1/2) will be accepted through March 31, 2025. Please include a study title, a brief description of proposed experiments, how this study aligns with AIM Core, and plans for student engagement. Send to the AIM Program Coordinator, Erin W. Cinense (ECinense@salud.unm.edu).
Eventual awardees will become AIM center members (if they are not already), participate in AIM Center activities including attendance and presentation of results in our Tuesday AIM Seminar series (TAIMS). Also, any publications resulting from data obtained using the voucher should: (i) cite in the acknowledgments the AIM Center P20 grant (P20GM121176), and (ii) link it to this P20 on NCBI.
Thank you for considering this opportunity.
Sincerely, Graham Timmins and Larry Sklar
