The Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Division of the UNM Department of Pathology includes state-of-the-art diagnostic services in microbiology, virology, chemistry, hematology, coagulation and transfusion medicine. Testing is primarily performed within the rapid-response laboratory at University Hospital and at TriCore Reference Laboratories. The rapid response laboratory provides prompt turnaround times for University hospital inpatients, urgent care/emergency room patients and selected hospital-based clinics. Testing performed at TriCore Reference Laboratories includes microbiology, virology, coagulation and specialized molecular testing. In addition to providing clinical expertise in the selection and interpretation of laboratory tests, our faculty is also engaged in issues of laboratory informatics, test utilization and evidence-based laboratory diagnostics. Our faculty bring a diverse range of specialization and interests to the division, and provide exceptional patient care while maintaining a strong commitment to the educational mission of the School of Medicine.
