There are several resources at UNM for accessing clinical data from UNM Hospital in a secure, HIPAA-compliant manner. Services include the feasibility queries, chart review, and analyst support through the Southwest Center for Advancing Clinical and Translational Innovation (SW CACTI; formally known as the Clinical and Translational Science Center), as well as access to patient-derived clinical data via the TriNetX portal. Additionally, cancer-related clinical data linked to outcomes and social determinants of health are available through the Cancer Research Integrative Information System (CRIIS).
TriNetX is a user-friendly platform that provides HIPAA-compliant access to de-identified clinical data derived from UNM Hospital’s electronic medical record (Cerner PowerChart). Data is updated biweekly. Researchers can use TriNetx to run feasibility queries, explore patient cohorts, and conduct informatics-based studies. The platform is free of charge for UNM investigators. https://hsc.unm.edu/ctsc/services/informatics/databases-analyst-services.html
Cancer Research Integrative Information System (CRIIS) The UNM Cancer Center can provide access to clinical data linked to cancer outcomes and social determinants of health, as well as support for conducting population-based research utilizing data from central cancer registries. All of Us Research Program All of Us is an NIH-funded longitudinal cohort study aimed at advancing precision medicine and improving human health. The data set includes electronic health records (EHRs), biosamples and bioassays, mobile health data, physical measurements, and surveys from over 800,000 participants. The UNM Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center (HSLIC) is an All of Us Research Hub champion. UNM researchers have “Controlled Tier” access to the All of Us Research Hub and Researcher Workbench. HSLIC provides dedicated informatics support and regular trainings for utilizing All of Us https://libguides.health.unm.edu/allofus
