Lectures, usually accompanied by presentation slides or images, are a long-standing tradition in health-sciences education. Regardless of the comfort of this tradition, research has also shown for a long time that learning from a primarily listening and looking experience is minimal.
In this blended (online plus live) workshop, educators will learn and apply the research evidence for designing PowerPoint slides to enhance rather than impede learning and simple ways to interactively engage an otherwise passive audience. Learners will spend approximately one hour in online self-study before the one-hour live workshop.
Objectives
After completing this workshop, participants will be able to enhance classroom learning by:
Apply the Assertion-Evidence model to designing PowerPoint slides for effective learning
Describe at least three methods for actively engaging all audience learners during a presentation
Evaluate the components of effective educational presentations

Full refunds are available to those providing written or email cancellation requests up to one week (5 business days) prior to the event date. Refunds less a $40 administration fee will be available to those who provide written cancellation within one week of the event date. No refunds will be provided to those who register but fail to attend, or who cancel their registration on the day of the event.
