As School of Medicine Community Faculty, you are valued and respected members of the UNM Community. Please remember that Community Faculty are also expected to follow UNM’s policies regarding political activity as outlined in the UNM Administrative Policies and Procedures Manual.
Of particular note is Policy 2060 regarding general activities: The University recognizes and approves the right of free speech and expression of opinion on any subject by any member of the University community, whether the subject relates to on- or off-campus issues. Those who speak or act shall do so in their personal capacities and not in the name of the University, unless there has been specific authorization by the administration to do so.
In order to assure its autonomy and integrity, the University shall not be an instrument of partisan political action. The expression of political opinions and viewpoints must clearly be those of the individual and not of the University.
This policy applies to faculty, staff, and students and addresses the appropriate use of space and resources for political activity on all of UNM's campuses.
The Office for Community Faculty at the School of Medicine is partnering with the UNM HPS to get our Community Faculty involved. You are invited to serve on a panel of interdisciplinary professions to share your experiences and provide students with relevant insight into working in your healthcare profession!
With the growing number of pre-health students at the University of New Mexico and the surrounding universities, student pre-health organizations at the University of New Mexico wished to strengthen student resources and came together to establish the annual Health Professions Symposium to recruit, inspire, and educate their community’s future health professionals.
