A community where every student is part of our pack. Students at our Rio Rancho extension are part of a diverse community in beautiful Sandoval County.
From breathtaking views to state-of-the-art skills labs. UNM Health Sciences Rio Rancho campus has all the benefits of a large university with a small school feel.
The campus is cozy. We even have a fireplace. There isn’t much hustle and bustle. The College of Nursing occupies most of the building with our students and faculty – besides the behavioral Health Clinic and the Medical Assistant program and a few helpful staff members.
The building is designed for you to thrive. Including classrooms, clinical skills lab and study areas equipped with high tech smartboards that promote collaborative studying. Not to mention the state-of-the-art-simulation center!
Park for free right next to the building. That may sound trivial but just try to park on ABQ campus – or any other university campus for that matter.

Founded in 1889, the University of New Mexico sits on the traditional homelands of the Pueblo of Sandia. The original peoples of New Mexico – Pueblo, Navajo, and Apache – since time immemorial, have deep connections to the land and have made significant contributions to the broader community statewide. We honor the land itself and those who remain stewards of this land throughout the generations and also acknowledge our committed relationship to Indigenous peoples. We gratefully recognize our history.
