Nanoscience and Microsystems Engineering

Earn a degree in the interdisciplinary Nanoscience and Microsystems Engineering Graduate Program, which the University of New Mexico College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering offer with support from College of Pharmacy faculty.

Program Requirements

Look forward to a broad-based, one-year core curriculum followed by focused coursework and thesis/dissertation research. Students in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences within the UNM College of Pharmacy must:

  • Enroll in the department's seminar course each semester
  • Complete the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology course
  • Complete at least one Advanced Organ-Based Pharmacology course


Nanoscience refers to scientific phenomena that occur at sizes around a nanometer, or a billionth of a meter. You'll find degree programs in this growing field at only a few select universities, including the University of New Mexico.
