UNM Center for Digestive Diseases

UNM clinicians, fellows and residents care for more than 10,000 patients each year at the UNM Center for Digestive Diseases. Our high-tech facilities are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases, as well as training the next generation of GI subspecialists.

We provide all diagnostic and therapeutic G.I. procedures, including:

• Capsule (pill-camera) endoscopy
• Colonoscopy
• Esophageal and anorectal manometry
• Liver biopsy
• Pancreas and biliary endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP
• Upper endoscopy

Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center

Albuquerque's VA hospital offers an expansive GI endoscopy center. This unit features:

• A large biliary suite
• Five endoscopy suites
• Two procedure suites dedicated to GI motility
• A dedicated 18-bed patient recovery area
• An expanded and newly renovated fellows' work room
• Conference room
• Kitchen/break area

UNM Hospitals

The physicians at the UNMH-CDD specialize in a wide-range of gastrointestinal diseases including inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, liver diseases, liver transplant, motility disorders, pancreatic and biliary diseases, colon cancer, esophageal and gastric diseases, small intestinal diseases, and diarrheal malabsorptive disorders.

UNMH CDD maintains a state-of-the-art endoscopic facility recognized by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) for high quality. We have expertise in all diagnostic and therapeutic G.I. procedures including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, capsule (or pill-camera) endoscopy, pancreas and biliary endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP, liver biopsy and esophageal and anorectal manometry.
