505-272-4657The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of New Mexico is committed to the treatments of endocrine and hormone-based diseases. Through our basic, translational, and clinical research we work to discover the therapies of the future.
We also train fellows, residents and medical students in adult endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, including such areas as:
UNM is the only academic medical center in New Mexico. This means all patients in the state — plus patients from western Texas, southern Colorado and eastern Arizona — receive referrals to us for specialty endocrine treatment. The Division of Endocrinology also works closely with the Departments of Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology, Urology and Radiology to take a multidisciplinary approach to disease management.
UNM also handles all endocrine consultations for the Albuquerque Veterans Administration Medical Center. This wide geographical referral area generates a broad spectrum of endocrine diseases for study and excellent patient care.
UNM has a strong reputation for producing important research in endocrinology. The Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship is taught by experienced faculty and clinicians combined with a diverse patient population and wide range of clinical research providing our fellows with a broad spectrum of experience.
Our nationally recognized researchers contribute to such research topics as cardiovascular and metabolic disease, diabetes prevention and outcomes, obesity prevention, and more.
