Why I Chose UNM: As a Native New Mexican, I have a strong connection to the state and caring for our diverse patient population here. I left New Mexico for 7 years and am happy to be back at UNM for residency, especially in a program with strong support and faculty that are dedicated to training well-rounded Anesthesiologists. Additionally, as the states only Level-1 Trauma center, we receive unparalleled trauma experience.
About Me/Hobbies: Running, live music, concerts
Future Plans: Currently considering liver transplant fellowship or general anesthesiology practice.
Hometown: Albuquerque, NM
Medical School: University of New Mexico School of Medicine
Why I Chose UNM: I chose UNM for residency because I had a wonderful time getting to know the department while at school here, and I loved serving the community I grew up in!
About Me/Hobbies: Some of my hobbies include baking, watching Marvel movies, and spending time with friends and family!
Future Plans: In the future I am considering a regional fellowship.
Hometown: Albuquerque, NM
Medical School: University of New Mexico School of Medicine
Why I Chose UNM: As a former student, I can confirm that the culture and faculty of UNM are down-to-earth and supportive. I also knew that the training would be unparallelled, especially being the only level 1 trauma center and safety net hospital of the state. Not only is the patient population incredibly diverse, but they are acutely sick with complex pathology. Ultimately, I love New Mexico and wanted to serve my community and home state.
About Me/Hobbies: I love food- whether I'm baking, cooking, or going around town brewery-hopping or looking for the newest hole in wall, I love gathering around a table with friends and family to connect over delicious food. I also enjoy playing board games, snowboarding, and recently picked up pickleball.
Future Plans: Still undecided on fellowship, but could see myself pursuing a regional or pediatric fellowship.

Why I Chose UNM: UNM Anesthesiology has a very supportive culture, senior residents are supportive, attendings are great teachers and advocates, and the faculty are very helpful.
About Me/Hobbies: I enjoy all things outdoors: fly-fishing, skiing, mountain biking.... I tinker on the mandolin a bit as well.
Future Plans: We'll see what happens, but I intend to practice in the Rocky Mountain West.
Hometown: Bellaire, TX
Medical School: Texas A&M School of Medicine, Engineering Medicine (EnMed)
Why I Chose UNM: I chose UNM due to its complex patient population, complicated pathology, and high trauma volume. Being the only trauma center in the state, I believe that I will have excellent training at this institution. Out of all the interviews I attended, UNM's felt the most welcoming and inviting. My partner and I felt that UNM was the best option for our training and future.
About Me/Hobbies: I love collecting watches, cooking, trying new cuisines and restaurants, traveling, and napping.
Future Plans: I hope to become an excellent anesthesiologist. At this time, I'm thinking about pursuing fellowship, but still undecided on which!

Medical School: University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson
Why I Chose UNM: I chose UNM because of its unique role in serving a patient population that I'm passionate about, the culture of kindness that was immediately apparent as I got to know the program, and the quality of education I knew I would receive managing complex pathologies in a modern trauma center.
About Me/Hobbies: I love hiking and camping in the Mountain West, cooking, and board games.
Future Plans: I started residency with an interest in one day pursuing a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia.

Why I Chose UNM: I really appreciate UNMH’s commitment to providing community-responsive and culturally competent medical care. I was also eager to train at an institution where I could gain ample experience managing high-level trauma and critical care cases.
About Me/Hobbies: I have way too many hobbies to list, but I especially enjoy making music, riding bikes, and trying new breweries.
Future Plans: I plan to apply for Critical Care fellowships. I also hope to incorporate global capacity-building and health education projects into my career.
