Hometown: Gillette, WY
Undergraduate: University of Wyoming
Medical School: University of Washington
Interests: Skiing, Mountaineering, Reading, Kicking it with my family
I chose to train at The University of New Mexico because of the surgical autonomy, great complexity, great mentorship, happy residents, great location with mountain biking from the front door and skiing within 30 minutes, sunshine almost every day, and low cost of living. My co-residents are my favorite part of this program. Albuquerque and New Mexico have every outdoor activity you can imagine and most of the time you get do it from your front door. The weather is amazing, food is good, and the beer is even better. My wife and kids have loved Albuquerque and our residency. Our program is very supportive and made us feel like a member of the family from the beginning. For our kids, we like to visit the zoo, aquarium, Explora, Park Above, and being able to be outside 365 days a year. Outside of medicine, my hobbies and interests include mountain biking, skiing, running, and reading.
