I was looking for three things in a residency program: 1) excellent operative experience, 2) kind and friendly people that were fun to be around, and 3) warm weather. The University of New Mexico possesses these three characteristics with flying colors. I rotated here as a medical student, and it was evident from the start that this was a great team that I wanted to be a part of. The leadership with Drs. Schenck, Treme and Silva is a game changer. They have created a hard working, but still fun and friendly environment in which residents are consistently put in a position to thrive. My favorite experience thus far was orthopaedic trauma during my intern year. It was very busy, but we were all in it together. It was truly the Mamba Mentality. There's nothing better than fixing bones with your friends. I think the natural beauty of Albuquerque, New Mexico is one of the most underrated attractions in the United States. The breathtaking views, the amazing food and the kind people make Albuquerque a great place to train. I love sports: basketball, baseball, football, and boxing. I am a die-hard Cincinnati Bengals/Reds fan and Arizona Wildcats fan. I enjoy traveling (particularly internationally), hiking, video games, and I'm also an avid sneaker head (mostly Jordan and Nike).
