I chose UNM because of the culture of the program, the tight knit residents, and the invested/approachable attendings. New Mexico is a great fit for my family and I with a lot of outdoor recreation. UNM has a great variety and volume of cases and offers early operative experience.

Albuquerque is plentiful with great food and breweries with easy access to the outdoors. I enjoy the varied terrain in New Mexico and how in different parts of the state go from mountains, to desert, to forest.

I plan to return to Montana to practice and potential be involved in medical education.
