I chose orthopedic surgery because I am passionate about achieving excellent patient outcomes and enjoy the ability to treat a diverse range of conditions. The field allows me to make a significant impact on patients’ lives, from injury recovery to improving mobility and quality of life.
I chose the UNM ortho residency for its exceptional training experience, the strong sense of camaraderie among residents and faculty, and its proximity to my family. This combination makes it an ideal environment for both professional and personal growth.
This program stands out due to its comprehensive training that includes hands-on experience with a diverse patient population and advanced surgical techniques. Also, the program fosters a supportive community emphasizing mentorship and collaboration, enhancing professional development and personal growth.
My most memorable experiences during my sub-internship at UNM include my time spent with both the trauma and sports teams. I also loved my time off work where I would either play soccer or go for a workout with the residents.
