Application to the University Of New Mexico College Of Pharmacy requires a few steps including an online application, a GPA requirement, and completion of the 91 hours of prerequisite courses [PDF]. Application Deadline

The application deadline for fall 2021 admission is December 1, 2020. Consider applying early through the Early Decision deadline of September 8, 2020.

Early Decision

The UNM College of Pharmacy does provide a chance for well-prepared students to apply to the program early via the Early Decision Application. This application will open up towards the end of July and close during the first half of September. Applications are STRONGLY encouraged to have at least Organic Chemistry one, with the lab, complete before application. This provides the college with essential information on your abilities in the science classroom and helps to illuminate other key factors to help identify a student’s overall potential for success in the PharmD program.

In addition, students will need to have ALL PIECES of their application uploaded to their PharmCAS application before the official deadline, for all early decision applications. This includes your PCAT, Letter of Intent, three letter of recommendation, and all transcripts from every college attended.

Admission Requirements for Doctor of Pharmacy Degree

To receive consideration for admission to UNM College of Pharmacy, you must:

  • Complete prerequisite coursework [PDF]. Finish all your biology, chemistry and physics lecture courses by the end of the spring semester for enrollment the following fall. Complete all other prerequisites by June 30 for fall enrollment. Read prerequisite course descriptions [PDF].
  • Earn a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all required courses. The average GPA of incoming students in fall 2019 was 3.30.
  • Participate in admission interviews and submit letters of recommendation.

Once you enter the program, you must complete all biology and chemistry lecture courses within seven years.
