Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security system that requires users to verify their identity using more than one method of authentication. It enhances account security by adding an extra layer of protection beyond just a password. MFA is designed to prevent unauthorized access and significantly reduce the risk of fraudulent activity.
You will not receive a prompt on your mobile device if it is the same device you use to authenticate with the Microsoft Authenticator app, or if you are connected to the HSC network.
You may be prompted for MFA on first use after MFA has been enabled.
HSC Owned Devices Experience:
You may be prompted to authenticate in select applications on your up-to-date Windows 11 PC.
MacOS devices will receive a MFA prompt if you are not working on the HSC Network.
Personal Devices Experience
To use HSC provided services such as Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams access, you will need to enroll your device in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. You will be prompted on the first use of the applications after BYOD has been setup for MFA. If you are working off-site on a personal device accessing the Outlook Web Client (OWA) you will be prompted for MFA on each session. Sessions generally last 6 hours or until the browser window has been closed.
