HSC Students, faculty and staff may receive discounted software through the UNM Software Distribution program.

VPN Installation

If you do not already have VPN access, you must have completed course CLT-110A in Learning Central and have a supervisor request your access by calling the HSC service desk at 505-272-1694 or entering a ticket at Help.HSC.

Pulse VPN Installation Instructions

For Windows, Mac and Linux devices [PDF], please use your regular HSC NetID and password.

Linux devices may need to load the intermediate CAs. Please see the following resource.

Note: the Pulse VPN will not work on the HSC wired or HSC Secure Wireless networks. The VPN is not needed on those networks.

Connecting to HSC Shared Drives

After you have connected to the VPN you can manually connect to shared drives.

For Windows:

  1. Hold down the Windows Button and the letter E on your keyboard at the same time.
  2. A window will appear and click on the word Computer on the menu bar near the very top of the screen.
  3. Then click on Map Network Drive and then select map network drive.
  4. Select an available drive letter from the "Drive" drop-down list.
  5. Paste the complete folder path in the "Folder" field \\health.unm.edu\hsc_departments.
  6. If prompted to logon enter your login details and password (If using a personal workstation you must add health\ before your HSC NetID) then click OK to mount the network drive.

For Macs:

  1. In Finder, either hit Command+K to bring up “Connect to Server” or click Go > Connect to Server.
  2. Enter the path of the network drive you’re trying to map (e.g. smb://health/hsc_departments) and click Connect.
  3. Enter your login details and password (If using a personal workstation you must add health\ before your HSC NetID) then click OK to mount the network drive.

For Windows:

This will work for most people, but not all. You may need to contact the HSC Service Desk for the correct path.

  6. If prompted to logon enter your login details and password (If using a personal workstation you must add health\ before your HSC NetID) then click OK to mount the network drive.
  7. Replace your NetID with your actual HSC NetID in the folder path.

For Macs:

  1. In Finder, either hit Command+K to bring up “Connect to Server” or click Go > Connect to Server.
  2. Enter the path of the network drive you’re trying to map (e.g. smb://health/hsc_homes/homes/yournetid) and click Connect.
  3. Enter your login details and password (If using a personal workstation you must add health\ before your HSC NetID) then click OK to mount the network drive.
