Presenting at IPTC 2022

Abstracts

You are invited to submit an abstract for consideration for a Platform or Poster Session presentation during the 2022 IPTC. Individuals who have abstracts accepted for the 2022 IPTC Meeting will have the opportunity to present their research on-site in Santa Fe. Poster Session presentations and interactions will not be livestreamed.

Individuals who wish to participate and present at IPTC may submit an abstract via email by July 1st, 2022 2022IPTC@salud.unm.edu.

The Scientific Program Committee reviews each abstract that is submitted. The following guidelines apply to each abstract:

• 2,300 total characters (including the title, body, authors’ last name, and institutions. Spaces are not included in the character count.)
• One table, figure, or chemical structure may be included, but is optional
• All non-standard Acronyms are defined
• All presenters must register and pay to attend the 2022 IPTC meeting
• Abstracts should have a statement regarding ethical compliance for animal and/or human research
  
  

Poster Sessions

Poster Sessions are held (August 29 & 30th at 1600-1800). Authors are assigned to a specific Poster Session, and on the day of their assigned session, their posters are displayed all day during IPTC hours (0800–1800), allowing attendees to visit the posters at their convenience. Authors will attend their posters only during the assigned Poster Session time frame.

Poster Design

• 44” height x 90” width (111.8 cm x 228.6 cm) Display Area
  Posters are mounted horizontally with a usable space of 44.25’ x 90.75’ (112.4 cm x 230.5 cm). All poster material should be confined to the space provided and should not exceed it.
• Headers Come First
  At the top of each poster, you should post a label stating the title, authors, and author affiliations in addition to the abstract final ID number. The lettering of this title strip should be at least 1" (2.54 cm) high. 
• COI and Logos
  Conflict of interest disclosures should be included on your poster. Institutional logos are allowed on your poster. 
• Aim for Clarity and Readability
  Make sure your poster is understandable without an oral presentation and readable from six feet away. Remember that your poster will be on display all day. 
• Keep Visual Balance in Mind
  Make an initial rough layout, paying attention to the proportions of figures, tables, and text. Try to maintain a balance of using ~50% of the poster board area for figures and tables. 
• Choose Photographs with Caution
  Illustrative drawings should be used to depict animals. Photographs of animals should be used only where absolutely necessary for the scientific presentation. Posters for which human subject data are presented should indicate on the poster that protocols were reviewed and approved by a Human Subjects Institutional Review Board.

Printing Information

Presenters are encouraged to printed their posters at their institutions and bring with you. We find that canvas-printed posters are easiest to travel with and can be folded into luggage. On-site printing will not be available at the conference site. However, there are local areas that may be utilized. Please see the list below, distances shown are from the La Fonda on the Plaza.

Platform Sessions

If you are scheduled to give a talk, we're looking forward to hearing more about your work! Please find refer to the program for talk schedule (located on the “Program” section of this website). 

When preparing and presenting your talk, the conference organizers ask that you note the points below: 

1. PowerPoint slides are encouraged. To share your slides, please send your presentation to 2022iptc@salud.unm.edu with the subject line "[LAST NAME] IPTC Presentation" by 3pm US Mountain Time Saturday August 27th.
2. For 20-minute talk slots, please remember to limit speaking time to 15 minutes to allow time for audience questions. For 40-minute talk slots, please limit speaking time to a maximum of 35 minutes.
3. Please take note of the presentation guidelines below when creating and sharing your slides:
   1. Minimum font size of 24pts
   2. Please refrain from using flashing or flickering text or images
   3. Illustrative drawings should be used to depict animals. Photographs of animals should be used only where absolutely necessary.
