I chose orthopaedics because of the hands on aspect and ability to directly and immediately improve patients’ quality of life

UNM orthopaedic residency program has approachable faculty, resident camaraderie, ABQ weather and access to mountains. Along with more resident autonomy, earlier exposure to taking consults, don’t have to travel for any rotations (i.e. peds, tumor), elective rotation 4^th year.

 During my sub-internship I remember most thrashing in the ED during overnight call shifts.
